Funding Opportunity: AACR Scientific Achievement Awards

The AACR is currently accepting nominations for several of its Scientific Achievement Awards recognizing excellence in cancer research. Please note there is no limit to the number of candidates who may be nominated from any one institution or nominator.
Nomination Procedure
Nominations may be made by any scientist, whether an AACR member or nonmember, who is now or has been affiliated with any institution involved in cancer research, cancer medicine or cancer-related biomedical science. Candidates may not nominate themselves.
Nominations must be emailed to awards@aacr.org by 4:00 p.m of the posted deadline date. Paper nominations cannot be accepted.
Nomination Materials to be submitted are:
- Nomination Letter. The letter must:
- be addressed to the Selection Committee;
- be written in English; and not exceed 1,000 words;
- specify the AACR Award for which the candidate is being nominated;
- contain a concise description of the candidate’s outstanding, novel, and significant chemistry research, which has led to important contributions to the fields of basic cancer research; translational cancer research; cancer diagnosis; the prevention of cancer; or the treatment of patients with cancer, with the publications supporting these accomplishments directly referenced within the letter;
- contain a concise description of the impact of these accomplishments on the field; and
- be signed by the nominator(s).
- Candidate’s CV. The candidate’s curriculum vitae in English, including a complete list of the candidate’s publications.
- Summary Statement. A statement, no more than 50 words, summarizing the candidate’s research accomplishments for which he or she is being nominated.

Featured Awards
2015 AACR Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chemistry in Cancer Research (new window)will be given for outstanding, novel, and significant chemistry research, which has led to important contributions to the fields of basic cancer research; translational cancer research; cancer diagnosis; the prevention of cancer; or the treatment of patients with cancer.

2015 AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research Jane Cooke Wright Memorial Lectureship (new window) will recognize an outstanding scientist who has made meritorious contributions to the field of cancer research and who has, through leadership or by example, furthered the advancement of minority investigators in cancer research. Nomination deadline: October 15, 2014.
2015 AACR-Women in Cancer Research Charlotte Friend Memorial Lectureship will give recognition to an outstanding female or male scientist who has made meritorious contributions to the field of cancerresearch and who has, through leadership or by example, furthered the advancement of women in science.
Nomination deadline: October 15, 2014.
2015 AACR Joseph H. Burchenal Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Cancer Research (new window) will recognize outstanding achievements in clinical cancer research.
Nomination deadline: October 8, 2014.
2015 AACR Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Memorial Award will recognize an individual whose research has made, or promises to soon make, a notable contribution to improved clinical care in the field of cancer.
