Brain Research Foundation’s 2019 Fay/Frank Seed Grant Program

Limited Submission Funding Opportunity

The Brain Research Foundation’s Annual Fay/Frank Seed Grant Program provides start­up funding for new research projects in the field of neuroscience that have the potential to become competitive for an NIH grant or other external funding sources. The program seeks to support new and innovative projects, especially those of junior faculty, who are working in new research directions in the field of neuroscience. Seed Grant awards are not intended to supplement existing grants.

Georgetown University may nominate one faculty member (full­time Assistant or Associate Professor) to submit a Letter of Intent for this program. If you would like to pursue this opportunity, please submit:

  • a one­page outline of your research proposal
  •  a NIH­-type biosketch (5­page limit)

Please submit the above as a single PDF document no later than Monday, November 5, 2018, to Jennifer Kluge at jck67@georgetown.edu. An internal academic review committee will select the university’s applicant.

Eligibility

A candidate must:

  • have a full­time appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor working in the field of neuroscience.
    • Assistant Professor – Junior faculty with a new research project that will generate pilot data leading to R01 funding or a comparable outside grant will be first priority.

    • Associate Professor – Faculty who are pursuing new research directions. A new technique is not considered a new direction unless it pertains to a different area of study

  • NOT be a research assistant professor or research associate professor

Awards:

$80,000 over two years
