The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s 2018 Moore Inventor Fellows

Posted in Announcement  |  Tagged ,

The Moore Inventor Fellows supports outstanding early-stage inventors who have big ideas and deep knowledge to harness science and technology solutions that enhance scientific research, strengthen environmental conservation, or improve the experience and outcomes of patient care. The program focuses on supporting scientist-inventors at a critical stage of research to capture opportunities that might otherwise be missed.

Proposed projects should be at an early stage that could lead to proof-of-concept work on an invention or advance an existing prototype that tackles an important problem. Projects should not yet be at a stage where significant venture capital is available.

Principal investigators from a diversity of backgrounds, disciplines and experiences are welcome. Examples of such programs include, but are not limited to environmental science and conversation, oceanography, biology, engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, neuroscience, public health and gerontology. Georgetown University has been invited to submit two nominations total across all campuses (Main, Medical and Law).

If you are interested in pursuing this opportunity, please submit:

  • NIH-type biosketch (5-page limit)
  • One-page outline of your invention, the problem it seeks to address and its potential impact as a single document (both research proposal and biosketch) to Jennifer Kluge at jck67@georgetown.edu (new window) no later than Friday, January 12, 2018. The External Awards Review Committee will review these applications to select the University’s applicants.

Awards: $600,000 (plus $75,000 for grant administration funding) over three years

Timeline:
Internal application deadline: January 12, 2018
