2018 Searle Scholars Program Grant Opportunity

The Searle Scholars Program supports the independent research of exceptional early-career faculty in biomedical sciences and chemistry, who have recently begun their appointment at the assistant professor level, and whose appointment is their first tenure-track position. Program aims to fund early-career scientists who have the potential to make innovative, high risk/high-impact contributions to research over an extended period of time.

Georgetown University has been invited to submit one grant application. If you would like to pursue this opportunity, please submit:

  • one-page outline of your research proposal
  • NIH-type biosketch (5-page limit)

as a single document (both outline and biosketch) to Jennifer Kluge at jck67@georgetown.edu no later than Thursday, July 13, 2017

Awards: $300,000 over 3 years

Deadline:
Internal application: July 13, 2017
Application (if nominated): September 29, 2017

Eligibility:

  • Must be pursuing independent research careers in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and related areas in chemistry, medicine, and the biological sciences.
  • Should have begun the appointment as an independent investigator at the assistant professor level on or after July 1, 2016. The appointment must be the first tenure-track position (or nearest equivalent).
  • Does not ordinarily support purely clinical research but has supported research programs that include both clinical and basic components.
